Envitech has supplied more than 500 air pollution control systems worldwide.

Envitech Company History and Milestones

Envitech was founded in 1994 with a mission to design and deliver advanced air pollution control systems rooted in sound engineering and practical experience. The company was established by Dr. Ronald Patterson, whose early career was shaped under the mentorship of renowned aerosol and mist control experts Dr. Sheldon Friedlander and Dr. Seymour Calvert. These influences helped shape Envitech’s engineering-first approach and its commitment to delivering reliable, real-world solutions for complex environmental challenges.

Dr. Patterson’s experience began at A.P.T., Inc., a major contributor to EPA-sponsored scrubber R&D in the 1970s. He later founded Calvert Environmental, which became a key supplier of pollution control equipment for hazardous and medical waste incinerators and chemical processing facilities.

With the founding of Envitech, the focus shifted to delivering complete, integrated systems for a range of industries. These included medical waste, petrochemical processing, mining, metallurgical operations, and specialty chemical production. The company is known for its robust equipment, such as quenchers, absorbers, Venturi scrubbers, and wet electrostatic precipitators (WESPs). It is also known for its end-to-end service from engineering through installation and support.

In that position, he was responsible for managing APT government contracted research and development and consulting projects for industry and government

In 1983, Dr. Patterson purchased APT (renamed Calvert, Inc.) and successfully initiated a new growth strategy that concentrated on developing and marketing equipment for air and water pollution control. Under Dr. Patterson’s guidance, Calvert, Inc. became a leader in the pollution control industry.

In 1994, Dr. Patterson started Envitech, Inc. to provide environmental products and services. The company sells its technical expertise and products for control of particulates, heavy metals, aerosol mists, acid gases, and tars and condensed VOC’s from combustion and other industrial processes. Dr. Patterson holds a General Contractors license and through Envitech has performed several turn-key installations of air pollution control systems.

Professional Affiliations
Dr. Patterson served on the Board of Mac Equipment, Inc. and on several EPA-sponsored advisory committees which draft new air pollution control regulations. He is a member of the International Forum for Corporate Directors, the Air & Waste Management Association and the Water Environment Federation. He also is a member of the organizing committee for the International Incineration and Thermal Treatment Conference.
